The Antigua Los Volcanes is by far one of the most exclusive types of coffee in Guatemala.
Guatemala’s coffee plantations are mostly located in the south on the volcanic mountain slopes of the Sierra Madre, some up to 2000m above sea level.
The activity of the volcanoes naturally has an impact on the taste of the coffee, which is reflected in pleasant, subtle smoky notes. The fertile soils offer ideal conditions for the Arabica beans of the Caturra variety. Tropical mountain and cloud forests cover the region around Antigua and the shade trees promote the slow ripening process of the coffee cherries, which affects the unique quality of the coffee. A year-round mild climate and sufficient rainfall offer the best conditions for Antigua-Los Volcanes coffee.
A spicy, full-bodied coffee, hearty and balanced. It is characterized by a fine fruity acidity and a very good fullness.
